Having 100% of their production in Europe strongly increases chances to have a product made in fair conditions.
On top of making products in France, Chaussettes Orphelines is involved in several social initiatives:
- Awareness and reduction of textile waste.
- Social integration of women accommodated in shelters.
- Developing the creativity and concentration of children from disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
- Socio-professional insertion for people far from work through sock sorting.
Having 100% of their production in Europe reduces the environmental impact of the brand.
100% of their products are made from socks. In 2019, Chaussettes Orphelines invented EASY
RECYCLING or the return label for free recycling: for each purchase on our site you will receive with your purchase a prepaid return label (in metropolitan France). It allows you to return 500 grams of socks free of charge in the envelope of your purchase by depositing this envelope in the mailbox closest to your home.

While tidying up her two boys' drawers, Marcia, our designer, discovers a whole bunch of orphan socks: a universal but rarely explained phenomenon!
Not wanting to throw them away and therefore pollute, she decides to cut them up and create beautiful textile pictures, or to assemble them into new clothes.
In October 2008, she presents one of her creations at the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris.
She then founded the association Chaussettes Orphelines to raise awareness of textile waste recycling through the realization of artistic creations made of socks.
The association also has a solidarity goal: anchored in the Goutte d'Or district in Paris, it organizes workshops for the integration of women from the district.
All the creations are made from socks and only from socks.
